Why does everyone grind at a school dance?

Why does everyone do it? It looks like sex with clothes on and why does everyone have to do it, to be cool? It looks disgusting from the outside and when I do it, I feel really embarassed.

people do that because they dont know how to dance and/or they find it so be sexy. its not, it looks terrible and frankly, bobbing side to side is not considered dancing to me.
