why is there an England team for the world cup and not Great Britain. is this a recent movement and will it stay permanelty or is it just a joke in terms of how International rugby league is structured.

Does this mean that international fixtures with NZ/aus will now be with England?

Who cares. If they had a Great Britain side, all the palyers would be English anyway. Having a Great Britain team belittles the Welsh and Scottish teams.

I'm afraid England has a national team for many sports, including rugby union, football, cricket...All involved and performing at the highest levels.

In 2006 after the lions tour, the RFL decided to retire the British team so that players, by popular demand, could play for England, Scotland and Wales. It is to be permanent. It is could, because now England, Scotland and Wales can be proud of there country, not the bigger Kingdom.
