Why Does Each Deity Look Like The Civilization?

Why, throughout time, has each deity created looked exactly like the civilization that created them? everything from the ancient mayans to Jesus.
 
Because that's the way man relates to the eternal reality, which is ultimately inconceivable by our ordinary consciousness. We need familiar symbols to provide an imperfect representation of the transcendent reality, as a stepping stone to realization of that reality in its true state.
