Why does an audience need to know about concentration camps?

I'm doing an informative speech on concentration camps during the holocaust, and i need to say why it relates to them, or why they need to know it. Any ideas?
 
A message to the future. Because millions were killed and millions more enslaved as the world watched, and when interference for the better sake of humanity is called for it must be answered.
