why do you think some authors like to go by "anonymous"?

i'm an author and i love getting credit for my work. i have thought about just letting it go but i would feel somewhat angry if someone tried to take credit for my own work. i don't get it.
 
Some authors don't want to attach there name to a book because then it lessens the likely hood that they will be judged. Another reason could be that they have already put their name out there and didn't do so well the first time around. It's the perfect solution - just don't put your name on it, or better yet some authors want to become a character themselves.

This will sound stupid, but its dangerous. alot of... strange people get a hold of your works.there are many (very stupid) reasons for these people to want to hurt you, or your family. like when J K Rowling was attacked at a book signing. its not a high possibility, but some people would rather get the money then the fame and danger.
