Why do you think my friend took this joke too serious for I don't get it?

Ok this one time me and my friend met some girl and the girl said to my friend you look so cute and hansome I want to eat you all up. My friend took the joke too serious and got too scared and ran away and didn't want to be around her anymore is because he thought it was really going to happen to him but it didn't lol. I told him dude chill out she is just joking around with you and he said you don't know that for sure i'm all like omg lol. The girl was wondering why my friend has been avoiding her. I told her that he has been avoiding you is because when you said that he is so cute and hansome and want to eat him all up and he took the joke too serious and ran away and said he did not want to be around you is because he really thought that you were going to eat him up for some howand the girl tolde that she was just joking around with him. So why do you think my friend took the joke too serious
 
She probably does like him, but didnt want to really say, so she 'joked' about it to see what his reaction would be.
 
It might not be the fact that he thinks shes going to eat her as that's just strange ha ha.
It might just be he does not like people being to nice to him.
also when people say they want to eat you all up they usually say it to babies so maybe he felt embarrassed about it.
 
Maybe he is freaked out about cannibalism...hm. maybe it embarrassed him or made him feel really emebarssed.

Well, just tell him, it was a joke, no big deal. I'm not sure, just let it blow over. good luck!
 
I think you're friend either has some mental issues or he's overreacting...

Unless he's pretending to be scared because he's really scared...hmmmmm
