why do you think god would make man in his own image (friendly debate please)?

I have this theory that the only thing an omnipotent being doesn't have is a way of justifying his actions to himself so therefore it would be logical to create scale models of his self one than create and destroy choose good or evil create life etc. by giving us free will and putting us through the same trials and tribulations and moral dilemmas he must go through he allows us to reflect on whether we would have done anything different to him
perhaps speculation outside the text is meaningless perhaps speculation is entirely meaningless but is it wrong to contemplate the motives of the creator?

I'm anamoured with the idea of god creating little versions of himself who spend a lot of time playing god, it almost seems cutesy when you see it in those terms
