hp...the past behind me

I was on the verge of destroying six years of words, when I came to YA to ask a question on mathematics. I stumbled around the site, my first time here, and on my way out I found the poetry page. I posted two pieces.

At that time, less than ten people knew I wrote at all. In those six years, I wrote about two hundred pieces. In the last year I have penned about six hundred pieces. I attribute this and my continuing to write on the voices of strangers. Nameless and faceless, as many still are to me, that felt something when they read my words.

Many of you know, that I lost my world in Katrina and with that, I lost myself. In my words and in the voices of strangers, I am alive today. Never will anyone ever persuade me to not write. And if one person here finds my words and moves after reading them, then I am the most successful writer I need to know.

If you ever wondered about writing, please stop wondering and start. It may change your life, It has mine.

P.S.
I know I may move some to the bathroom, but hey...at least you moved.

Peace to all, Rob

this was an answer, now it's a question.

I couldn't get into an art school...you know that one where you draw the little picture and mail it in? So here I am

seriously though, you write good stuff, Rob...continue to reach for the stars and keep up the good work

I am one of the people that is moved (not to the bathroom) by your writings. Many years ago I had a very troubled life. Life events threw me into a crazy tailspin that I could not control. I wrote a lot, back in those days. Very depressing, sad, writings. Through counseling, and meds, I got back into the land of the living. Now, in my happy self, I am trying to reclaim my writing abilities. I am a little timid, but, you and other poets on this website inspire me. I love reading your poetry, your prose, and your stories. I also love the writings of every one else that posts on here. Being able to write, and share those writings, is a God given gift. It is a special gift that isn't given to everyone. It should be treated with respect, and appreciated as a gift. Am I preaching? Sorry, my three grown sons would all be rolling their eyes about now. Thanks ROB and EVERYONE for sharing your gift!

An unbelievable amount of sharing. I am glad to hear your story, and I'll say it again... I love your poetry! Thank you so much for all that you have done here today! Now, I need to go use the... tehe!

I post because of people.

I want people to read my poem and think "WOW!"
or maybe "WHAT?""
or even "That made me cry"
or perhaps "That's exactly how I feel."
or "Man, this guy should be published."
and also "I enjoyed reading that."
and many
other
things.

Wow I didn't kno that. 600! geesh thats a lot. I used to post poetry every once and a while on here but lately i've been wanting to write about every little thing so i've been on here a lot. Nice to know who the poet is behind the poems =P
