why do you have to have internet in order to buy a smart phone at verizon?

why is ot that if you...like say if i wanted to get the driod..i have to get internet with that. wtf is that for? I'm stuck with a crappy phone because i can't afford to pay for the internet.. UGH..im getting so frustrated....i think it is really stupid.

so anywyas..y is it that you have to get the internet in order to get a smart phone??
But i don't want a ugly cheap phone...i want a nice one! i want the droid haha
already paying hundreds of dollars a month
 
for a droid, you need the internet for most of the features, like navigation, email etc. after all, droid is by google, and google is, after all, an internet company.

smart phones are more for browsing the net, emailing, staying in touch etc so with out a plan, you might as well get a cheap phone for calling and texting only.
