...magazines when it's women who buy them? Women are the CONSUMERS of those images.

Men, on the other hand, are interested in the women in porn, who are curvier to begin with. Plus, there are chubby chasing men, and men who subscribe to practically EVERY body type.

So why do women blame men for the skinny women on in fashion mags?
Prof C, you are the ONLY person who mentioned "Cosmo"

And you are also woefully misinformed. You seem to rely on the "Male CEO" argument way too much.

Because they have to find something to whine about before the day is out so that they feel complete. Even though I don't like anorexic-looking women, I would rather see a 5'4" girl that weighs 110 lbs in a magazine as opposed to a 5'4" girl that was pushing 150 lbs. Women aren't dumb, they know what looks good, they just want to make themselves believe that being fat should be in style, but most people are never going to find a "fatty" attractive. There's no sense in them getting mad about it, they just need to lose weight.

Editors, photographers, marketing people are still mostly men.

Sorry to burst your bubble but cosmo is a lifestyle not a true fashion mag.

Sorry folks but all you are doing here is showing that you know little about the magazine/ high fashion industry in general. Conde Nast Publications is the publisher of Vogue- check who the CEO is! The individual magazines must adhere to the wishes of the publisher.

Because women strive to be like what they feel men desire.. and men desire skinny women.. everything to excess.. if thin is good.. really then must be better.. so these magazines feature near anorexic looking women..
