Why do we keep going over the same argument in the health care debate ?

At the start of this whole brew-har Obama said, if you like your insurance, you can keep it.

Everytime he has had to speak, he says again, if you like your insurance you can keep it.

Yet, Tv interviews still show people still complain "what if I lose my health care"

Is it me, or are we all getting deaf ?

Come one people ! we're never gonna get anywhere with this bill if we don't get past this simple point !
 
READ the bill. If you depend on what any politician says about the bill you are asking for trouble. The House bill is 1018 pages long. On page 16 it clearly states that insurance plans will not be permitted to write new or replacement policies for individual contracts after the bill is implemented. It is DENSE prose and full of references to other sections but it is clear that unless:

you work for the federal government, or
you are in a union

you are going to be pushed towards the public option. A lot of this has to do with the fact that under the House plan the public option will have a favorable claims experience in that they have mandated a lower rate of payment for services (105% of Medicare) than that achieved by current commercial insurances.

Of course, no one is suggesting that these changes will happen day 1 of the new bill but they will happen. By trusting Obama and not looking at the bill you are letting him sell you a bill of goods.

I, for one, do not think that Obama has even read the bill.
 
It's not that simple. Obama has said in the past that he wants to get his foot in the door with any legislation to put us on the road to a single payer system. It may take 10-15 years, but that is the goal.
