Why do we discuss race?

Racism is brought on by a generalized opinion of a large suite of people. Do you think some people can go on about a certain generalization to the point of it sounding a true?

Do we generalize people without truly understanding their history.

Should we quit arguing about race and how "black people this, white people that" so that we can concentrate on learning about the reality of their situation? History says a lot, I say and the more we learn about it the more we're able to embrace each other.

So why are we still discussing race?
What I'm looking for is:

Are you trying to solve problems or create new ones? Just didn't wanna sound mean, sorry.
Ok I get it. I live in a very diverse city, so I wouldn't know about true prejudice. But I just think we should fight as individuals instead of bashing others.

We discuss it, because society still dictates that race matters.

A lot of people don't realize it, but even in Real Estate, white people are often shown homes in certain areas, and black people are often shown homes in other areas that are not as nice as the ones shown to the white individuals. How do you think "black neighborhoods" and "white neighborhoods" are formed? It's no coincidence. People are guided to these areas. I know where I live, the black areas are further limited by the fact that the buses go to their neighborhood a LOT less often than they go to the white and Jewish parts. It keeps the black people away from others as much as possible, because it's a hassle for them to catch a bus that only comes twice an hour, but buses go to the white neighborhoods every 4-7 minutes or so. That's convenient!

When things like this occur, we have to talk about it and expose it. The only way to talk about this is to mention that it is all related to RACE. That's why race is important: Because it still distinguishes classes and people of certain races are still limited in what they can do and where they can go because of it.

I think it is because there are people in all cultures that have strong opinions on the subject. Alot depends on how you were raised; your environment and what you were taught. We pass it on from generation to generation. There have been injustices in all cultures, some were regarding race; some were because of class. We need to learn from history, embrace our differences, but all realize we are all human and therefore are the same but with different experiences.

Not to get theological, but there is a story in the Bible about the Tower of Babel. (Paraphrased) All the people were working together to create a tower that reached into heaven. God saw this and stated that together there was nothing that could stop them, so he confused them by creating different languages, so that they could not communicate. I think racism has created the same thing. Think what we could accomplish is we were all working together.

As much as we all want to stop talking about it, race related issues are still out there because there is most definitley still rascists out there. And if you can look me straight in the eye and tell me that black people are REALLY equal to whites, good luck tellin yourself whatever helps you sleep at night.

Well, let's see...
maybe it's because people like you have to preach about it.
or, maybe it's because we are all human and we all judge and criticize people...and usually we do it without a guilty conscience.

Racism is an over-used topic in societies. It is a topic that when things blow up, IT MUST BE MENTIONED OR TALKED ABOUT! It is such an over-used topic that people in the "hood" who are messed up in the head have to use it, in order to tell people why they are messed up. They can't look at themselves in the mirror so much that they must mention that it is somebody else's fault of why they are suffering!

I mean, seriously ask a gangbanger or a person who uses illegal pharaphanelia to look at themselves in the mirror! They can't. They don't want to. They want to continue to believe that everybody in the world is against them and that the only people that COULD POSSIBLY EVER CARE ABOUT THEM are people who do drugs with them (that would really like to see them dead)! See, when you hear a group of people whining about racism, don't take their whining seriously, as in "I BELIEVE YOU, THESE PEOPLE REALLY DID OPPRESS YOU." Understand what they're saying as "People in my life, in my own home, in my own family HURT ME! I need help. I need help! I don't need somebody telling me anymore how I've failed at this and that!" Think about them as people who need to escape from their own problems, so they bring up other's problems. Think about people who whine about racism as people who would like you to help them and people who would like to live. Think about racism as an issue that is used to blame people, as a means to drive away any faults that are apparent in that person or in that person's personal life. Think about that and then, think about racism.

An African elephant in the United States? That would mean an African American elephant, wouldn't it? I'm Scottish, English and an American, so if I moved to Australia I guess I would be Scottish, English, American Australian then? It's all nonsense. History is one thing, but we must get real that not all black people come from Africa and not all white people come from the United States. There are lots of "white" people who have immigrated to the U.S. from Africa, but they aren't labeled as "African Americans". Why is this? There are many "black" people who come from all across the globe who have no roots in Africa, but are termed, "African Americans". This is nuts. WE the PEOPLE are Americans and that's the end of it.

Because race issues are still existent, we can't ignore it. There still are racists in this world, who preach racial hatred to their kids and others.

If you don't like the 'generalizations' I suggest you go to another section that isn't entitle, Cultures & Groups. This section is here to discuss groups of people not individuals.

Try the psychology section.
