Why do upperclass black kids insist on dressing and acting like thugs?

You can call this racist all you want, and that's fine, but I have to know. I live in an upperclass neighborhood (less that 1% of population recieved any for of govt assistance) but in my sons highschool it seemed like every black kid in the halls had pants below their ass, shirts that said "thug life" and even carries on serious conversations about how they lived in the hood or the ghetto (as of present, not in the past). What is wrong with the African American youth of this generation?
