is it because you see things going around
or is it because of the blood and its movement

the two answers about blood are utter rubbish. however the other answer is correct. you have two balance systems in your ears, one based on fluid that senses rate of movement in either of the 3 axes of movement, roll pitch and yaw; and another which uses calcium crystals in a gelatinous matrix to tell you which way down is relation to your head. it is the first of these that makes you dizzy.

when you turn normally, the liquid moves a fraction of a second after you, and this relative moevement is detected by small hairlike structures called ampullae.

when you spin fast the following happens. imagine you spin a glass of water so it makes a little whirlpool. that wrirling lasts long after you stop. the same happens in your inner ears which tells your body it is still moving when in reality it is stationary. your body and vision try to compensate for the 'movement' by moving, which causes some very odd effects, such as the room appearing to drift and/or spin, ad you falling over

We sense our orientation by means of fluid inside our ears. When we spin around and stop, the momentum of our spinning keeps the fluid sloshing around and we sense that we are still turning even though we are not.
