Why do those Kingdom Heart games have cartoon characters in them?

Just something I noticed on the side, when I look up video game info. on IGN or GameTrailers.

its a disney game
its a real good game dont let the kiddy cartoons mislead you
i only wish it was out for the newer systems

Kingdom hearts is a disney game. It is similar to final fantasy in its gameplay and style. However, although it is a good game, it can be somewhat disillusioning to see goofy and donald duck prancing around behind your character.
