Why do they even make/sell 1 1/2 gallon tanks if no fish can thrive in one?

I know, that happened to me today I have that size tank, and my fish (I have two) seem to be doing well...well one of them, the other one is small.

I've been yelled at so many times on this website for putting my fish in the only tank i have and been told that he won't survive. I've seen goldfish live years in bowls.Can anyone please explain this to me?
