Why do the pickles in my garden look like cucumbers?

I bought some pickle seeds to plant one day, so I went ahead and used them. I waited and they seemed to be growing good, and the sprouts looked very healthy. I watered them and gave them fertilizer and they finally grew. But they don't look like pickles! they taste like cucumbers! WTF? They aren't exactly the same color as pickles, either. What is going on? Why do my pickles look like cucumbers? Did I do some thing rong?
