Why do some people get their masters degree right after their bachelors degree, without working in between?

Dont employers care about work experience over education at some point. Isnt it weird to have a master's degree without having a lot of professional work experience?
 
It depends on what the degree is in. There are some fields of study where you can't get a job of any real value without a masters' or higher.
 
There are some fields where work experience doesn't count for much - like many science fields, or humanities. While MBA programs require work experience, many masters programs in the sciences expect you to remember everything you learned in you bachelors degree, so the faster you start the masters, the better. Many students will have experience in internships and research that they can do during the summer or semester anyway.
