I have lived with my husband in Romania around his family for the past 20 years. I had no problem adjusting and his family accepts me and loves me for who I am. We have recently moved back to the USA and again it was easy for me to adjust. But for my husband it's hard for him to adjust coming to live in the USA.
He has never lived here but has been here to visit my family more than a few times. But he gets upset that people don't understand him very good because of his accent. My 16 year old daughter is the same way. She tells me that people at school call her a Mexican and she tells them that she is half black and half Romanian. And she says they give her funny looks and then will ask what does a Romanian look like? She has told us its very upsetting, that people here where we moved to are so naive. We moved back to SC.
