Why do so many people calling themselves Christians, seem to revel in the idea...

...that others will suffer? I really tired of seeing so called Christians saying so many people will burn in hell.

I really doubt Jesus would ever say some of the rotten things I read on this site. No matter what a person believes. I think that Christ intended more love and tolerance in the world. Not seperating yourselves out as the elite that will be saved.
 
It depend on the context of what a person will mean by saying that someone will burn in hell?
Unfortunately hell is real and it is a place prepared for those who rejects the laws of God and the sacrifice that Jesus made by dying for sins of the world.
However it is not a Christian thing to rejoice in the downfall of any person whether friend or foe.
Jesus preached love and tolerance.
We are told in the Bible that we are not allowed to enjoy seeing another person fall.
Instead the Christian thing to do is to pray for your enemies and to stand with those in prayer who has fallen from grace.
There are no elite in Gods eyes the ones that belongs to Him are the ones who will be saved.
You do not belong to Him you do not get saved, that is the heartbreaking part of this whole thing.
 
True Christianity is not about seeing yourself as elitist at all. While many claim religious labels that don't truly apply, those that employ discernment understand the differences...true Christians KNOW that they are not elite and are instead in need of a Savior and dependent upon Him for salvation.

I'd suggest you're both misunderstanding the truth of that and are confused by the rampant misapplication of religious labels. I'm betting you're also assigning tone to a written word and assuming that some that would share their beliefs are "reveling" in anyone's demise...there are a few hateful people on here that do that, but even a tiny bit of discernment suggests they are trolls and pseudo believers since their conduct is the antithesis of what the Bible says a Christian will be.
 
i'm Christian and i wondered about that. i delight in mercy, personally.

Ezekiel 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
