Why do so many christians and atheist continue to argue?

Seriously, its getting nowhere. Nobody is going to change anybodies minds about anything.
Okay let me add a bit. I am not talking about "REAL" debate. I see a lot of christians and atheist on here doing that. I just don't get the phony troll questions that some ask. Like "is it true that all christians have lower i.q. that atheist?" or "Atheist admit it your just angry that we christians wont worship your false god like Thor." (Christians know atheist don't believe in go) these things are just dumb. I mean real logical debate, sure thats great. But why the disrespect.

As long as irrational faiths control governments and power structures and affect the real lives of real people... and often mean the end of those lives... that kind of thought must be argued against.

True, much of it is not useful on this particular forum... except perhaps as a whetstone.

Nobody is trying to change anyone's mind honey, I am just defending my faith, thats all, just tell the heathen to stop attacking it, but they'll never comply to that due to the satanic rebellion that is burning up inside of their hearts..

hmm,

I have to agree with you that most Christians are stupid. Being a Christian myself, it is likely that I am a "stupid Christian" as well. Oh well. I may not have read the Bible or know any verses, but from my ill-informity I have made a decision to believe.

And the reason Christians and Atheists argue is because we are bored. =\

I hate to say this, but most Christians are over-bearing Jesus freaks, and most Atheists are right in that we take it too far sometimes.

My first marriage was to an atheist. First he was agnostic, then he became an atheist. He found Benny Hinn and religion about 10 years ago and is now a raging fundie who tells his children they are going to hell if they don't accept Jesus. When they tell him they do, just not in the televangelist way, he sighs and says it MIGHT get them into heaven, if they reject Muhammad, The Bab and Baha'u'llah.

I think, seriously, people change constantly. None of us know our own capacity for change. I am here to see what sort of things my Faith does have answers for. Many of the questions I go to the reference library and see if there is a direct answer for it or if it is one which is inferred. I answer to see if it satisfies the person, to see if others respond to it or see what it looks like compared to others answers.

I look up other peoples answers if they use a source to learn more about the religions that my friends and neighbors are thinking or relying on for input.

No matter what philosophy we adhere to, what religion we "know" is the "one and only" the fact of the matter is we are all in this here and now together and we can get the most out of life if we are working together towards something rather than constantly looking at and for our differences.

I do believe that many folks actually DO change their way of thinking when they are truly seeking answers. However when someone is just throwing out arguments for the sake of the argument itself, then usually their mind is already closed to new ideas.
By "hashing" through whatever your current system of belief is, with someone that has a different opinion than your own, then what occurs is your own belief is either made stronger or it is put into question, causing you to seek a better answer.
Therefore "arguing"DOES have a good purpose. As long as it is kept civil.

Because we are sick of sh*t like this and about a million other examples just like it:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091024/ap_on_re_us/us_oklahoma_abortion_laws

Stop trying to legislate your delusions into laws which the rest of us are forced to follow and there will be no more problems between us...

Why do we argue about taxes, or health care, or education, or power, or lawn care, or food products, or color? We like our beliefs, and we fight for them, even when they're pointless.

Because they both follow the same religion. ImRightism lol

One uses religion to describe everything that the other uses science to describe. And well they both get mad cause they are always trying to prove each other wrong lol. :p

Atheist feel that Christians make them look bad and this intimidates some. True Christians live clean and wholesome lives and they practice good self-discipline with God's help. They are successful and prosper. They make the world a better place to live in.

Sinners often drink and party to excess, use drugs or find a way to rob and steal or cheat others out of their money. They will deceive you and take advantage of you in various ways. Or gossip about you and try to slander your good reputation. Corrupt politicians/Judges are ruining this country out of greed. And of course, there IS a devil, you know.

You already knew this... didn't you? Or have you actually learned anything?

because both sides have stubborn people. but also, rmember that Christians believe in God. they want to save other people's souls by having them accept God. Imagine being a Christian and you meet an athiest. first of all you might get uncomfortable but also sad. you do not want them to burn in hell. so they keep on talkin bout God and so on.
Athiests dont want to hear this "crap" to them God is not real at all. and it bothers then that people think He is. many believe it is a form of regulation that people made up in order to have a set society. many think that God is an excuse.
this is not deniable. the Europeans used God as an excuse to destroy all the Indians from America. but their real hidden purpose was to go after the gold and riches that this land possesed. over 70MILLION indians died in 250 years. thats over 700 indiands dead each day.
