Why do so many Americans oppose state health care?

Sorry, I just don't get it. Is it selfishness, or they don't want higher taxes (though even with higher taxes it would still not cost as much as health insurance does), or is it something else?

I work hard enough to pay for my own healthcare. Why should I or my family be responsible for paying for someone else's?

Selfish are the people who elect representatives that give them entitlements AT SOMEONE ELSE'S EXPENSE.

Because theoretically with state healthcare, there would be no competition and therefore no incentive for the healthcare industry to innovate or provide great service. You know, the kind of things they're doing now...

No one understands how cheap preventative care is opposed to curing...something like cancer.... it's a hell of a lot cheaper to KEEP someone healthy than to cure an awful disease and get them healthy again. I think it is a lot of ignorance and selfishness. Almost everyone would be all for raising money for their own sick child's medical bills, but to willing help out another??? OH NO.... that is uncalled fore.... /end sarcasm.

Almost everyone that has health insurance likes the care they receive. The government only can make things worse. The government knows nothing about efficiency, quality, or cost effectiveness. The selfish ones are those that want "free" healthcare that will ruin the standard of care that the vast majority now enjoy.
