true conservatives are much different from the neo-con republicans were all used to seeing on tv these days. people tend to lump them all together.

No, they don't.

If John McCain proposes Republican-targeted platform X, then Barack Obama should propose a platform that's just one notch to the left of McCain. He gets the vote of everyone who is less conservative than McCain, and therefore wins the election.

If winning was all he cared about, that's his only strategy. So he must care about something else.

why do people cling to arbitrary political associations? they are destroying the country.

Ok then McCain's the retard who fucked up.

Either way, they care about something else or they're just plain retarded. Believe what you will.

you know who else had a two party system? Nazi Germany, Communist Russia, North Korea, Cuba, Myanmar, Tajikistan, etc...

That's pretty much what happened.

McCain - "We'll finish the war then get out of Iraq."
Obama - "We'll get out of Iraq after we've finished"

Gets voted into office, then does jack shit.

Either way, the far right is turning Texas into a narrow minded shithole.

Even though Texas has always leaned right, there has always been a right amount of middle and left voters to balance them.

I'm not religious at all, but I like guns and the Constitution. I vote Libertarian though. Not all people who like guns are hardcore bible-thumpers.

No, I don't. He's just another power hungry politician that will say and do anything to stay in office.
