I work at a dealership and someone who works with me said a women came in with a sunfire for trade in. It was in good condition and she expected more for it. But with the appraisal they couldnt give her much, because its a sunfire. "It is what it is"

So what does that mean? Why do sunfires have a low resale value ?
What is so bad about sunfires?

American cars have very poor resale values in general.

You can get a 2006 Chevy Cobalt or Ford Focus for $7000, which is about the same price for a 2002 Honda Civic with higher mileage. The 2006 Honda Civic used would cost $14,000 with similar mileage and condition as the Cobalt or Focus.

And trade in prices are very low. Sometimes, they are half the price of the private party value or retail price.

Trade in is a bad idea. You make much more money by selling the car yourself.

Sunfire's were average cars. They were not bad. They were not great. I have driven a few of them. They were high sellers, but American.
