It's not just the marked cars. I just saw an unmarked car, with a retractable light, riding around with its light flashing. What's the point here? Giving a heads up to criminals. "Oh, there comes a patrol car, I should hide until it goes by." I can almost accept the idiotic nature of the regular patrol cars doing this, as they consider themselves to be somehow inducing citizens to follow the law. But a friggin' UNMARKED patrol doing that? What's the point?
NOTE: The police have the OBLIGATION to catch criminals in the act of their crimes. They are NOT obligated to inform criminals of their presence. BAD, BAD answer!!!!
Potatoetomatoe, the above response was directed at you. Yeah, police and emergency vehicles need the right of way at times. But what's the point of advertising yourself, AT TOTALLY UNNECESSARY TIMES, to criminals you want to catch?????
Plenty of nothing.... they should be trying to identify wrong-doings, not notifying of their presence. Law ENFORCEMENT not law notification to keep you from being caught.
