Why do Pixar always take the p***

Up's UK release date still defies sense! Though as someone has already pointed out, the Toy Story 3 release is pushed to July so it falls in school holidays. This is the most common delay reason for US/UK releases.

And yes Pixar DO indeed take the p*ss...out of every other animation studio! Saying that, How To Train Your Dragon was easily the best Dreamworks animation movie to date.

I personally think the delay's are more about merchandising than anything, spreading the film release date's over month's alway's keep's the merchandise at premium prices throughout the world ,feel sorry for familly's with 3-4 young kid's all wanting the latest toy's/clothing/stationary ect ect ect from movies AND now paying even more for 3D cinema plus the bluray/dvd's.

Then the wonder why people download free.

Well don't they use the same films reels. They use them in the US then send them to the other countries - keeps costs down massively. Otherwise cinema will be even more expensive than it already is!

Although now it is digital and the films aren't on reels they shouldn't really have that problem.

Agreed the wait is annoying - for example Up. But that is no excuse for piracy.

Just because people these days are more demanding and like throwing toys out of prams when they don't get their own way.

Besides another reason it could be later is because of the lack of 3D screens available. Most cinemas only have 1 or 2 3D screens so they have to stick to schedules. US is currently ahead of us with 3D films, so they'll get the 3D films first. Simples.

Why don't people exercise discipline and parental control? Do they steal the stuff from Toys R Us too? "ooooh, it's all too much an' the kiddies want it all!"
Absolutely pathetic excuses for theft.

I don't care what the legal definition is, if someone takes something that doesn't belong to them for no other reason than they want it, then that's as close to being theft as makes no difference in my book. Mealy-mouthing about the meanings of the legal term 'with the intention to deprive' doesn't cut it with me. A thief is a thief, legal wriggling or no.

Don't worry, it's not true. I don't know where that poster got that from, but it's definitely out in 3D and 2D at exactly the same time (see the adverts for confirmation - "Out in Imax 3D and Disney Digital 3D 23rd July, 2D in Selected Cinemas").

Disney want to get as much 3D ticket money as they can, if anything they'd delay the 2D release, not the other way around.

I agree Ricky, but I am sure some piracy will occur because some people who want see a film already available to millions of people, rather than pay for the privilage of waiting.

Ah good point, hadn't considered the fact that schools in the US break up far earlier. However, releasing Up in May and releasing it here in UK (and a few others) bites the biscuit a bit for fans. I supposed the studio know what they're doing though *sigh*

Lmao, if we all thought along those lines nobody would be able to criticise anything :D

EDIT: The post above mine better not be true

waiting for 10 years for the film to be made along with everyone else is one thing, but then knowing the film is ready and being shown elsewhere and not where you are is annoying and unecessary! i want to see buzz and woody!
if film companies are serious about cracking down on illegal downloaRAB then they need to realise the tempation of downlading a film because it has been released at different times in different places is a major factor!

World Cup and school holidays are the reasons for the release dates but Disney and Pixar aren't the only ones guilty of it, Dreamworks do it with their films, Shrek came out in the US on May 21st but isn't released here until 2nd July although there are previews the weekend before.

Studios often schedule films when they think it will make the most money, it's the reason why Up and The Princess and the Frog were released in half term time where they isn't as much competition compared to summer and Christmas.

Also, look at it this way- pay for a simultaneous promotional campaign in the US and the UK (and elsewhere), or, if you're confident about your movie, just pay for one huge one in the US, and wait for the press reviews to do the job for you in other territories?

I know which I'd do.

I remember importing Finding Nemo from the states so i could give it as a gift at christmas. The UK DVD release was either Feb or March the following year.

The A Team is just as bad, 11th of june in the states and 30th July over here. I more annoyed about that.

However, I can understand if not support the knock off nigels of this world buying a pirate DVD because of the long delay in the release.

However some would still justify buying a KO dvd even if TS3was released worldwide on the same day.
