Why do people think Honda Civics are so cool?

alot of people i see get civic like this http://image.importtuner.com/f/16856071/impp_0904_08_z+2000_honda_civic_rebirth_of_cool+civic8.jpgand trick them out, why the civic? why isnt there a variety
 
reasons to trick out a Civic.....

~the car itself is inexpensive to buy relative to other cars,
~fairly inexpensive to modify (ever seen what kind of cash it takes to modify a BMW???)
~lots of aftermarket parts available so you can "personalize" your ride to your taste and budget
