Why do people think Haiti and the Dominican Republic have the same culture? Because they're right next to each other? Does Mexico have the same culture as the United States? Don't think so. DR has more in common with Puerto Rico and Cuba than Haiti, get over it. Haiti is a Francophone country and DR is a hispanic country. Last time I checked, the french and the spaniards are nothing alike. The only culture similar to the hispanic culture is the Brazilian culture and I'm not even sure if we're even that similar.....
and DR is not a black country DR is 50% mixed, 40% black and 10% white. while countries like Haiti and Jamaica are 98% black, 2% other. DR is a blacker country than most latin american countries, minus Brazil but it is by no means a "black" country like Jamaica or Haiti.
And please don't argue, at least I'm willing to admit that almost half of the Dominican population is black enough to be considered "just black" or "light skin black" like American blacks.
But yeah, why do people think DR and Haiti are similar?
A Puerto Rican or a Cuban can easily understand a Dominican, we all eat rice and beans, we all have the same ethnic composition; black, white and taino and we're all tiguerasos.

The dominicans that do voo doo are Haitian illegal immigrants.....Dominicans don't want anythign to do with "haitian" activities.
I know that there are mulatto haitians, my spanish teacher (my school makes me take spanish) is a Haitian and he looks like a quadroon dominican but apparently he's Haitian.
I thought Voodou was a type of ritual where you curse people and do super natural things like summon ghosts, I didn't know it was a religion.
And we hate Haitians simply because you guys keep coming to DR illegaly and have way too many kids. There are 1.5 million Haitians in DR and the number of Haitians is growing, if somethign isn't done, they might over populate REAL dominicans and take the island for themselves.
A couple thousand illegal dominicans in puerto rico is nothing compared to 1.5 million haitians.
And the Dominicans aren't causing trouble while the Haitians are decapitating people.
