Why do people think fish cant suffer?

Am I the only one who feels horribly sorry for fish? Most of the time they get crammed in little tanks that are a totally unsuitable size for them, like clown loach and marine fish in teeny tiny tanks, then they get sick and gross flesh-eating bugs attack them. People think its OK to flush them down toilets or release them into freezing cold rivers when they get bored, and when you try to tell people how they SHOULD be kept, they say "they're only FISH!!"

Well, they have a central nervous system, so they feel pain. These tiny fish bowls must feel like suffocation to them. Is it just cos they arent cute and they're slimy, not furry?

Why do you think people think fish cant feel pain or suffer?

I believe some people don't think fish suffer is because they are ignorant. Some people are usually selfish and will do anything and everything to ensure they are happy without regards to how others feel. Personally, I know that fish feel pain and I try to provide the most suitable habitat for my creatures (ie. I have 4 fish in a 180 gallon fish tank and do not plan on adding anymore).

I agree with Andrew they are stupid an ignorant. While they may not have "feelings" they can feel pain and it hurts. And they're stupid little catchphrase "It's just a fish" makes me sick. And the way goldfish are going I theorize that in some decades they'll become extinct and let us see who'll say it's just a fish.

HeLL NO your not i feel the same way and i just hate the idea of them hooking thim with there fishing rails and eating them also cutting them while there alive. I lOVE animals alot and just like animals i feel that see creatures should be loved too and not takin for granted because there small and cant cry so your not alone.
