Why do people think being good at maths means you will be good at physics?

i am great in maths but i suck at physics

if an object is dropped from a height at a certain speed physics teaches it moves across as well as down but i juut can't picture that

i always thought (and still do) that the object will just fall straight down, regardless of the speed of projection. As i nit does not move across at all, just straight down.

i guess i don't have the physics brain
