Why do people think anime fans are weird?

I am asking this question because people who are not into anime often assume that anime fans just sit on the computer, eat chips, are overweight, and have no life. I am an anime fan and I know for a fact that I don't just eat junk food all day and just sit in front of the computer. But to tell you my honest truth...when I was not into anime 2 years ago, I actually thought people who watched anime were weird. I know I was mean...I used to judge people before even seeing them...but okay enough what I think..answer my question people!!!
