Why do people rant about too many 'emos'?

I don't mean to label, but I am curious because at my school there are no people close to falling under 'emo,' nor when I go out anywhere do I see any. o-o
I live in a fairly normal place, too, in PA.
I always see people going on about how practically everyone is one now, and I've never even seen one in real life, which is strange to me.
 
its something people keep to themselves sometimes.
And here in los angeles they are everywhere! and all over the internet too!
