...suites them (in arguments)? I asked a question about nagging, and some answerers answered as though the woman was only nagging because the man had not fulfilled his duties/promises, even though the type of nagging was never specified. (Never said if it was, "Dirty underwear on the floor again?", or, "You're worthless and no one will ever love you".
When an abusive man is brought up (with no background information) most people will assume he is beating his partner.
Or when prison inmates come up, people will usually say "rapists, and serial killers", not, "lied about his taxes, and falsely imprisoned".
The NRA and the Brady Campaign. One picks, "This brave, patriotoc person, using a just and righteuos gun, scared off a burglar, ", the other picks, "This poor, innocent child almost shot themself with a big, bad, scary gun". The one is always, "Perfect, reliable, infallible guns!" The other is, "Big, bad, scary, evil guns!"
Or feminists and MRAs. (Not gonna bother explaining that one).
Or some people will drink from a stream in the middle of the woods, even though they have no idea what could be in it, yet they drink bottled water because they do not trust municipal water (even though some bottled water is/is about the same as municipal water).
It is also confusing, because on one hand, it seems like you are suppoused to be suspicious of, and expect the worst from others, but at the same time, you are to trust them, expect the best from them and respect them.
Why is that?
