why do people like betta fish so much?

I love mine because if they have the proper-sized tank and warm water, they are very energetic and bright. They have really distinct personalities too. I got my first Betta nearly a year ago and we even play games like tag together! My little fish bring me so much joy and amusement. They're always at the front of their tanks waiting for me to come in and give them attention.

Like I said, the problem with Bettas is usually that they're not being housed properly. Each Betta should have at least 2.5 gallons and the water needs to be somewhere between 75-82 degrees Fahrenheit. When it's not met, they can't show their true colors, both physically and at heart.
 
People like having Betta fish as pets because they are very easy to care for, they can live in small containers and do not need to be housed in an aquarium, and they have beautiful fins and colors. They can also be trained to do tricks like push ping-pong balls and jump out of water.

I have a betta and I love him dearly, why post this question? Why don't you go out and buy a hamster or something and leave betta lovers alone!
 
i agree with the first answer, my betta is really active and its nice to watch him swim around his tank. he's also very interactive. he'll swim towards the top of the tank whenever he sees me becuase he thinks hes getting fed, hes always interested when i'm doing water changes, and he always manages to swim in my direction when im watching him or what not. i love the colors and i think it's a great experience having a betta fish
