Why do people have debates about God?

I have been reading some answers on some other questions and it seems like people are debating with other people more than answering the question. This probably happens in real life to. Anyways, what is the point of this sensless arguing. No one is gonig to change the mind of someone. An Athiest is not going to start to believe in God no matter how much you tell him and vise versa for Christians.

So why do people fight to try and convert them to their religion?

They debate cus they don't know the truth but want to....
