I breastfeed my baby and my goal is to do it for at least a year, but there are a lot of women who can't. They aren't producing enough, their baby won't latch on, or they can't pump at work. Some women just can't and they have to feed their baby formula. I think that everyone knows that breastmilk is the healthiest, but I think that the women who can't breastfeed should be cut a little slack.
Also someone posted a question just the other day that made the women who stop breastfeeding their babies once they start to teethe out to be selfish and neglectful. I thought it was a little over the top. I mentioned in my answer that if my baby started teething and was biting me until I bled, no matter what I did to train her, I would pump milk for her. I got 2 thumbs down! I don't get it. She would be getting the same nutrients whether I fed her my milk from a bottle or from a breast. I don't think my baby needs blood mixed with her breastmilk or a mother with an infection, and pumping is a pain in the a**. Women who pump should get a little credit for working so hard to feed their babies breastmilk. Breastfeeding is much easier. It's less time consuming and there is nothing to wash.
Anyway, I'm sorry about the vent. I'm just sick of the self righteous, uppity moms who feel they have the right to harshly judge everyone who doesn't breastfeed or who feel they have the right to bad mouth moms who pump, regardless of the circumstances.
Why do some people think that it's their place to judge other mothers so harshly over breastfeeding? I just don't get it.
