Why do people dislike Harvard educated, cosmopolitan, well grounded politicians?

It isn't as if we have any major political dynasties that were able to produce 3 presidents in a row. (2 has been the max) Also, a harvard educated person would have a more cosmopolitan/big picture, less localized, view of the world, seemingly making them better for foreign policy. They would have also had access to economic and legal education as well. Yet when Sarah Palin implied that they were not "Real, hard working Americans" people cheered.

Why? It isn't as if everyone who went to good schools was from a rich background (Bill Clinton is a great example.)
