why do people call the lion king of the jungle when tigers are the true kings...

They look more wild, strong, and commanding. Their mane gives them a brave, large look and their golden color makes them look very, well, kingly.

However, I do agree with you. They shouldn't be called the king of the jungle if they don't live in the jungle and if they aren't even the largest "king" like animal.
 
Sure, nowadays. The phrase "king of the jungle" for lions was coined a long time ago; jungle could've been the term used to describe its habitat at the time, or the term could've simply been coined out of ignorance, OR for better ratings (if it's the media's fault - jungle sounds more exotic than plains).

...of the jungle (read below)? tigers are bigger and stronger and while lion live on the african plans tiger literally live in jungles
so the makes tigers the real king of the jungle right?
