Why do people ask your age when discussing sexuality?

So you know how everyone on here asks "how old are you" when the asker is confused about sexuality, why does it matter? When the people who come out say they've known since they were 12 years old, you don't question it then!! Oh everyone says, its normal to be confused when you're young....NO ITS NOT! That's the whole point isn't it? Being gay is not having confusion, if you're a girl you like girls, if you're a guy you like guys. its like waking up and seeing the blue sky in the morning, it's just what is. So why does age have any relevance???
