Why do most people join the military?

Some want to support their country in the best way they know how. Others see no other option, and recruiters finesse and sweet-talk them, mentioning all the benefits but none of the consequences. Don't get me wrong. Most of these men and women are the bravest people I know. I just think the targeting practices in recruiting are a little fishy.

I'm not going to lie and say I joined to serve and protect my country. I joined because I:

- Like the military for the most part
- Get a steady pay check
- Get Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
- Get three meals a day, a roof over my head, with no bills
- Get out of this podunk ass town
- Get to live my own life.

An added plus but not a reason I joined because I've other ways of paying: They will pay for my final two years of college without me having to use my G.I. Bill (Which I'm going to use for my possible kids if ever I decide to have any.)

In my opinion they are looking for direction or a path in life and the military is all mapped out for them, excuse the pun. Usually the Military is chosen by people because they are seeking a strong secure life, with the answers all there for them.
