Why do Mormons think that the Garden of Eden is in Missouri?

My mother and sister in law are L.D.S. and I made the mistake of talking about an awesome history channel special about the location of the biblical Garden of Eden and how every woman has mitochondrial DNA linking every human on the earth back to one woman in Africa.

They came unglued.

And they immediately said that the special was all wrong and that the Garden of Eden was in Missouri.

Missouri? What the hell?

Can someone please explain this to me?
They weren't kidding. I thought they were going to kick me out of the car.
I never said that I believed in the Garden of Eden. I just said it was a cool show. Reading, try it sometime.

I am as confused as you are. Humans started in Africa and society started in the middle east. Missouri is one of the last places on earth that people have even been to.
 
I am a catholic but I really want to hear how the hell adam and eve went from the americas millions of years before its discovery to the Middle east in the blink of an eye
 
Joseph Smith wanted to convince his followers to go with him to Missouri and so he told them that Jackson County, Missouri is where the garden of Eden was. He also said that Jackson County is the "next Jerusalem" and when Jesus comes again, his capital will be there.

It's in the Mormon scripture D&C 116 if you want to read it for yourself.

Its ironic because the Mormons were kicked out of Missouri anyway, so Joseph and to make up reasons to go to Utah next.
 
When you grow up, you'll realize how crazy the whole buybull is. There never was a garden of eden. Stop worrying about a myth! Oh, I live in Missouri and there's no garden of eden here!
 
actually they dont . they think this is where the new jerusalim will be . but catholics think that the Guyser that is described in Geneses is here in the USA . they think it is the Old Faithful . they even built replicas of 3 of Herods temples around it . and that is just 3 . many more are here in USA . the twin towers was one of Herods temples . this is why it was targeted . many building in NY alone are replicas of Herods temples . dont take my word for it . check it out for your self .

you know it is bad when i know more about the mormon religion than they do . read there bible and see for yourself who is right . it realy is a cool story but i wont reach for a bible when the time comes .
 
Whatttt? Then how would the descendants of Adam and Eve be in Israel when they haven't even invented boats yet?
