Why do many people act as though American culture isn't white culture?

They complain about black history month and say "why can't we have white history month". The customs the celebrations in America the things we learn in school the LANGUAGE is WHITE OR EUROPEAN. It's just not called white culture or European culture but it's called American culture. So why complain about the few months out of the year that the focus in on African American, Hispanic American or Native American history.
