Don't they realize that other countries like or dislike us for an array of reasons, many relating to their own self interests? If their self interest doesn't align with our own, why should we change just to be popular?
For instance, wouldn't we be really popular in the Middle East if we'd turn our back on Israel? Wouldn't Russia just love us if we dissolved NATO and left western Europe to them. Think how our popularity would surge with al Qaeda and the Taliban if we pulled out of Afghanistan?
I know the taste of bootlicking sucks but wouldn't it be worth it to be popular?
Nancy, do you have some worldwide popularity poll data to back up your claim or are you talking out of your.....?
Pluto, I think you should be what you are and stick to your principles regardless of whether that makes you popular with a dubious cross section of society.
Some issues are worth fighting for and some should not be compromised
I'm guessing you have issues with areas of personal responsibility and are willing to sacrifice your standards as long as it will make people like you.

So you agree that liberals act according to how it will affect our image. I agree with that.
Unfortunately they are in favor of doing things that are not in our best interest in ways not pertaining to image. You sort of ignored this part of the whole equation.
