Why do lower-class people & minorities continue to over-whelmingly support Democrats & liberals in elections?

History suggests the Democratic party has failed to effect meaningful change for those constituents, so why do they continue to support them?Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican.
 
They were promised alot from Obama and other democrats . They all want a free ride.
 
Democracy can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
 
MLK was NOT a Republican. He was of no party but did endorse both Kennedy and Johnson for President.Go ask a minority of a decent age and ask if their lot has been better under Republican or Democratic rule. That's why they vote the way they do.
 
They only voted for Obama cause he was blackThey continue over the years to vote democrats because they believe the lies the people spew about working to help the poor, Its sad that they fall for this year after year
 
because they actually believe that the democrats are looking out for them.both lower class and minorities have been voting democrat for 40 yrs and they're still poor.
 
You have to keep in mind that the definition of republican has changed over the years. Its now synomonous with conservative, which doesnt want change. Liberals do want change, and think that republican will not giev them stance in office.Gays are a good example. Most republican parties are anti-gay.most.Its just more comfortable for them, radicals love radicals.
 
Because the left tends to be more socialistic, which gives to those who have less (granted, at the expense of others). The right often emphasizes big business & less government aid, which is counter to what many of the lower class would like.
 
Because Republicans are a bunch of racist cpitalists who exploit eberything possible for their own gain. Hence 1% population has 100% of the wealth.
 
The Republican party has since Lyndon Johnson stood for policies that hurt working people and minorities disproportionately. Is it any wonder that these people vote for Democrats? ∠°)
 
as in Doctor King, he was educated. The Democrats pray on the lower class and less educated people...and it looks like they are succeeding. Ask any KING. If the people depend on you for bread, then cake looks good. Meanwhile you will never have an easy life....after all who will collect the garbage? now this is an issue the elite Democrats are really concerned with....If you succeed , who will do this?
 
Well timed question. This morning at the truck stop I am stopped at we (a few of us truck drivers) were discussing this very thing.We weren't able to figure it out, but we did find it odd that most poor people and minorities claim that it is Democrats that are the ones that are going to help them. But, they are still poor, while the Democrat elite keep getting richer.The only thing that we could figure out is some kind of brain malfunction caused by watching too much Oprah and Jerry Springer.
