The mainstream media is controlled by advertisers, so the corporate agenda shapes it's content. No surprise there. There's this whole myth of the "liberal media", whatever that means. It's total nonsense that falls apart under the slightest scrutiny. In fact if you look at it, the straight press has an overwhelming tendency in the opposite direction. Due to the stations being owned by huge media conglomerates, there's virtually no deviation from the right-wing norm. So for example, when Israel was carrying out ethnic cleansing a couple of months ago, nobody that I know of(maybe you can find an exception) in the corporate press questioned the morality of the massive U.S. support that's been given to the largest terrorist state in the Middle East for over four decades. It was never even brought up. So that should give you an idea on how narrow the range of debate is that is allowed to enter the mainstream arena. Of course the moronic talking heads all cry "LIBERAL MEDIA!!!" without offering any evidence(and seemingly failing to realize that they are, in fact, the media elite), so that becomes the question that's allowed; "Is the media too liberal?" An assertion that falls flat on it's face when thought about rationally for three seconds.
