Why do libertarians want a private education system?

Libertarians are under the impression that the free market could run anything and everything. Most of them live in a delusional dream world.

People need a basic education. And many americans wouldn't be able to afford a private education. I'm all for cutting back federal involvement and letting the schools be run by the county or city and only getting money from the state and having set standards. Also raising the standards to make people work harder for a diploma will make people know more. I'm libertarian and I think people shouldn't have to choose between food and education. I know my family couldn't afford private education and pay a house payment. And knowing the government we would be past the wage level to qualify for public assistance. Also not every one can drive their kids to school because some people work when their kids go to school. And I've never heard of a private school owning and running a school bus for their kids. The public system need reform and we don't need to scrap the system to fix it.
