...about the Patriot Act? Im curious.. since so many libs seem so concerned with wiretapping of suspected Terrorists phone calls coming from outside the US... to INSIDE the US....
Which the patriot act authorizes....
How is it that this concerns you libs when you are all for expanding big government, goverment entitlement programs, even socialized medicine?
If you think about it... expanding government NEVER gives you more freedom....
Quite the opposite it takes it away through more regulation and government dictation of how things should and should not be ran... in your life.
So what say you libs?

and not the support of the Patriot Act?
( and for all you libs with Bush Derangement Syndrome... can it...Im not concerned about him.. he is history in less than 8 months....Im curious about your opinion on the expansion of big government vs. the Patriot Act.)

We created the Patriot Act to deal with threats from terrorists. Not to take away more freedoms.
Although I believe it could be abused by the wrong President in the future...
Its certainly not akin to the kinds of freedoms you will lose under a massive goverment expansion... proposed and supported by liberals.
Jamie S... Remember that Reagan had a Democrat Controlled House and Senate... and in order to get anything done... he had to work with them, compromise...etc.
They were mostly comprised of big government, power hungry libs and dems.
Expansion of the government took a back seat to dealing with the immidiate threat of the Soviet Union.. in Reagans' mind.
And rightfully so. The security of our nation was paramount.
So, in that sense... if the unintended consequence of dealing with the Soviets was a budget deficit, or bigger government....
At that particular time... they were lesser of the three evils.
Reagan was an old school Conservative... he supported lowering taxes, the size of government, etc.
Bush Sr... and JR... were no Reagans by far.
There is no comparison to Reagan...with the BUSH neocon way of running the government.

There is potential for abuse written into the Patriot Act... Ive read it in legnth several times.
However, there is alot of oversight by people of all Political Affiliations associated with it.
Its not a free ticket to do as you please by any means for any President.
As for Big government programs... I will tell you how they take away your rights.
THEY COST MONEY!
Which takes away your right to keep more of what you earned in the long term... and short term.
It forces you to pay for things you may or may not support... or want to pay for.
And the bigger government gets...
The smaller your net paycheck becomes.
Thats a fact.
I dont know about you.. but I earn my cash. I dont like Beaurocrats with bright ideas thinking of MORE Beaurocratic crap to tax me on.
That is not only taking away my money, freedom to choose....
But its also a travesty!
