I am no expert but are you resting a hand around your mouth when slouching on a desk when bored or covering your mouth because it could be due to the different dirt/oils placed around that area.

It could also be due to a hormonal irabalance if it is a sudden outbreak.

There are lots of other reasons which i wouldnt know about but if you see your GP or a dermatologist then they can provide answers and solutions for you.

(I have mild acne) :(

I've had acne for decades and been on all kinRAB of oral and topical treatments. I was getting what I thought was acne around my mouth only to be told by my dermatologist that it was an allergic reaction to fluoride in toothpaste. Go figure. I switched to non-fluoride and the bumps eventually went away.

Don't know if this is your problem but I thought I'd throw it out there. But Wurryer is right...could be resting your face on your hanRAB.

I used to get acne around my mouth pretty badly (really inflammed, painful spots) and I always believed that it was due to horomones. I've heard various times that recurring acne near/around the mouth and most lower half of the face usually means that it's due to horomones. The reason I don't have most of it anymore (though I still do break out occasionally "near" my mouth/chin) is more than likely because I went through two courses of Accutane, and after my second course I don't wear anymore makeup. I always felt like makeup erraticated (sp?) the problem.

I would suggest going to your derm and talking about birth control maybe? That usually clears women up if it's due to your horomones.
