why do i have to take deep breaths?

Why do I have to take deep breaths? I have to take deep breaths like long sighs or big yawns. It's almost got me in trouble because sometimes people think I'm bored and I'm being rude. ...Not at all. Others have commented that perhaps I'm tired and need more sleep. That's not true either. Also there are times the deep breaths are accompanied with mucus build up or the occasional runny nose. Anyone understand this problem or have a cure. It may or may not be related but I sneeze a lot more than others.
 
Do you have asthma? If so, these are signs that it is not under control. See your pulmonologist.
