I bought it as is at a buy here pay here... I've only had it since June of 08. Everytime I go to start it I have to hit the gas pedal. Well not EVERYTIME if I am lucky. Sometimes I get it on the 3rd try without hitting the gas pedal. PLEASE someone please help! I am trying to sell it and it doesn't seem to sell very well once people go to start it. Is it because it is just old?? or is it the starter? or what could it be?

Because the Fuel Pressure Regulator is going on. They always do on Jeeps. You might have better luck if you turn the key on the On position for a few seconds, then try to start it. The only cure though is to replace the regulator. On most cars this wouldn't be that big a deal because it is a seperate component on top of the engine near the fuel rail. On a Jeep though the regulator is part of the Fuel Pump Module inside the gas tank. A much messier, more expensive affair.
